Tumbling heart (pleased to meet you).. This little guy’s heart is doing flips while his hat levitates.. Love does that to him…Finished it today ! Pleased as can be… thought I felt my hat glide about for a while !
Ive nearly completed the Kinetic Sculpture “Taken for a ride” (all that glitters is not gold).. It now has a nice red handle on the crank and am just short of some final decisions on finish and making a sound-track to go with the video clip(that wont contravene anyone’s copyright)…
But today I have been working on a new one .. something simple because I got into a lot of ‘Kognecience Kaniption’ type trouble with “Taken for a Ride” .. anyhow, here is a picture of work in progress on the new one .. Working title, “Tumbling Heart”.These other two pictures are the “Trial and Error” bits…
So I’m working on a new Kinetic thing.. Needed another ‘Jig’ … completed the “Ganson Alignment Jig” ..the one that I sacrificed a perfectly good Stanley hand drill for…and Julian De Saxe..(who, like that Kung-fu Panda bloke.. is Awesomely Legendary), found a replacement one for me… Thanks Julian! I don’t know yet, just exactly what this one is saying but it is quietly doing my head in…. so it is doing something ..
!
After making the kinetic sculpture “Bee Here Now” with a very erratic mechanism.. (the cogs lurch and jam !), I did some research and found the amazing Kinetic Sculptor, Arthur Ganson and after some initial disappointment at finding that he, seemingly, has used up all the ideas in the universe in the department of ‘comical whimsey, tempered with deep insight’ .. I girded up my artistic loins (!) and on the assumption that mine is a unique and creative intelligence , I studied his ‘you tube’ channel and have been making simulacrums of his Wire Gear making Jigs for the last few days .. Thank you Arthur Ganson and your Unique Insightful and Lovely Intellegence ! and for showing the world your Jigs !
Should have them finished today .. hoping for some less Krunchy Kinetics !…
Watch this space !
We had a great night at the Bi-annual ‘Hammer and Hand’ Exhibition..June 20th, this one the winter one .. our favourite ! with Mulled wine, Fire drum blazing.. (Dark !) .. good eats.. and a Crackin’ show by “Moondog Gypsy Blues Band” .. and then there were the works ! These are some of mine….Get over to Hammer and Hand Byron to have a look at all of the Collective members’ works… “EXHIBIT A”
“Bee Here Now” detail… We rely on the Bees for our well being.. they have come to rely on our husbandry to survive ..Our hand on the management of the ecology is destroying the Bees … a seemingly small link in the chain, but crucial to our survival.
“I am my son, my mother, my father,I am born of myself
my own flesh sucked..And someone squeezed my heart
to make me go through my number. I was a wind-up toy
someone had dropped wound up into a world already
running down The world had been going on a long time already but it made no difference It was new it was like new I saw it shining and it shone in the sun and it spun in the sun and the skein it spun was pure light . My life was made of it , made of the skeins of light…”From Lawrence Ferlinghetti’s poem ‘True Confessional’
